About

From a young age I had an interest in tech. Whenever I saw a new cow print box come home, I knew I would be occupied for the next several weeks. I loved to learn everything I could about computers, which developed into a passion as I got older.

I attended an all-girls high school, which had a limited tech offering. There was a basic programing class which I took as early as I was allowed. I ended up receiving the “Most Tech Savvy” superlative my senior year.

Jump to college, I enrolled in Computer Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I’ll never forget the first day of classes when one of the few other women in the class turned to me and asked “Do you know what Computer Engineering actually is?”. I didn’t, and neither did she. Somehow we both managed to graduate in the program, figuring out what Computer Engineering was along the way.

While in college I attended The Flatiron School, a coding bootcamp in New York. There I learned the practical side of software development. This lead to an interest in software engineering, resulting in a second major being declared: Applied Arts and Sciences with Concentrations in Software Engineering and Geographic Information Systems.

I graduated in 2018 and the following Monday started my first full-time software development role. The toxic work environment caused me to look at alternatives, and ultimately I started my own business, Tibsar Software. One full-time job and a pandemic later I was able to take my business full-time. Since then I’ve graduated with my Master’s in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and moved into the Chief Technology Officer role at BeHerVillage.
